Remove hex nut -2- and pull out tie rod.
^
Remove nut -5-, press connecting link out of wheel bearing housing.
^
Remove trapezium link/wheel bearing housing -4- connection, remove bolt.
^
Remove collar bolt -3-.
^
Remove wheel bearing housing.
Pay special attention to the information when installing
Note: Replace bolts and self-locking nuts as described in instructions in exploded view, Refer to Suspension, Diagrams, Exploded View.

For plugged in ABS wheel-speed sensor: press ABS wheel speed sensor into wheel bearing housing until stop.

For bolted ABS wheel-speed sensor: screw in ABS wheel speed sensor to 10 Nm (7 ft. lbs.).

To tighten bolt joints -1 -, -2-, and -4 proceed as follows:

Lift trapezium link until shock absorber has been compressed approximately 40 - 50 mm (e.g. using transmission lifter VAG 1383 A and plate
VAG 1359/2).
Tightening torques

Item -1-: 95 Nm (70 ft. lbs.)
^
Item -2-: 95 Nm (70 ft. lbs.)
^
Item -2- (from m.y. 1997): 70 Nm (52 ft. lbs.) plus additional 90 ° turn
^
Item -4-: 80 Nm (59 ft. lbs.) plus additional 90 ° turn
^
Item -5-: 45 Nm (33 ft. lbs.)
