Support drive shaft using suitable object (arrow-1-).

Remove mounting bolts for drive shaft on rear final drive.
^
Support final drive with VAG 1383 or VAG 1383A and VAG 1359/2.
^
Remove mounting bolts for left support (arrows).
Note:
The final drive mounting bolts on the rear cross member are not removed.
^
Lower front of final drive slightly for easier access.
^
Mark respective position of pinion nut to pinion.
