Lateral Acceleration Sensor (m.y. 2000 and on), Removing and Installing
Lateral Acceleration Sensor (m.y. 2000 And On), Removing And Installing
There is a sensor for lateral acceleration installed at left and also at right (below B-pillar trim). Left and right sensors are identical.
Removing
WARNING: Observe all safety precautions for working on airbag.

Note radio code (for vehicles equipped with coded anti-theft radio / radio navigation system).

Disconnect battery Ground (GND) strap and cover the negative battery post.

Remove B-pillar trim.

Disconnect harness connector - 3 -.
-
Remove both screws - 2 - and remove sensor for lateral acceleration - 1 -.
Installing
Installation is reverse of removal, noting the following:

Note installation position of sensors for lateral acceleration:

Arrow points downward

Bolt - 6 Nm (2x)
NOTE:

After connecting battery, vehicle options (radio, clock, electric window regulator) must be checked according to repair manual and/or user
manual.

If the Airbag Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) - K75 - signals a malfunction, DTC memory must be erased and then checked again using
the VAG1551 scan tool.
