Installing 

The sealing ring is installed in reverse order of removal. In addition, the following work steps have to be carried out.

Slide additional ring 3403/1 onto thrust piece 3403.

^

Slide double sealing ring onto thrust piece 3403.

^

Drive double sealing ring in to stop using thrust piece 3403 (with additional ring 3403/1 installed).

Note:

The contact surface -A- of the thrust piece must contact the additional ring 340311. This additional ring must, in turn, contact the drive pinion
-B-.

Cover all splines on shaft end (arrow -A-) with insulating tape (without wrinkles or loose edges) in order to prevent damage to sealing ring when
drive pinion is slid onto shaft.

Note:

Before installing the drive pinion, ensure that the three washer elements -B- have been installed in the proper sequence go to illustration
A39-0192, below.

Place drive pinion on center of output shaft Installation location

CAUTION!

If the drive pinion is not positioned properly, the sealing lips of the gasket can be damaged.

Installation position of washer elements
A - Output shaft
1 - Thrust washer
2 - Roller bearing
3 - Thrust washer with cone (cone points toward transmission)

Note:

The three washer elements can only be replaced with exact replacement parts.
