Knock Sensor: Service and Repair

Knock Sensors

CAUTION!
‹› Fuel system is under high pressure! Before opening the high pressure components of the fuel injection system, the pressure must be

relieved to a residual pressure. Refer to => [ High Side Fuel Pressure, Reducing ] See: Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Fuel
Filter/Fuel Pressure Release/Service Precautions.

‹› Then wrap a clean cloth around the connection and relieve the residual pressure by carefully loosening the connection.

Removing

-

Remove the intake manifold, refer to one of the following:

‹› With a magnesium intake manifold, refer to => [ Intake Manifold ] See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Engine/Intake Manifold/Service and

Repair/Intake Manifold and Injectors, with Magnesium Manifold.

‹› With a plastic intake manifold, refer to => [ Upper Intake Manifold ] See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Engine/Intake Manifold/Service and

Repair/Intake Manifold and Injectors, with Plastic Manifold.

Remove the Knock Sensor (KS) 1 - 2 - or the KS 2 - 9 -.

Remove the KS 3 - 8 - or the KS 4 - 1 -.

Installing

-

Install the respective KS in its installed location.
