Using a screwdriver, pry out side clamping strips - 6 - (Qty. 3).

-

Open clamping strip - 8 - on protective cover - 7 -.

-

Cut upholstery clips - 4 - (Qty. 4).

-

Using a screwdriver, pry out lower clamping strips - 5 - (Qty. 5).

-

Turn back cover and upholstery in area of side airbag - 2 - far enough so the back side of the side airbag is accessible.

-

Open securing clip - 9 -.

-

Remove connector - 10 -.

-

Remove nuts - 1 - (Qty. 2).

-

Remove side airbag - 2 -.

‹› Installing

-

Bolt on Ground (GND) cable - 11 - with upper nut - 1 - on side airbag - 2 -.

-

Install side airbag - 2 - in reverse order of removal.

-

Use Upholstery Clip Pliers VAG1634 to install the new upholstery clips.

CAUTION!
No one should be in vehicle when connecting battery.

-

Connect battery ground strap.

‹› Follow the safety precautions after connecting the battery.

‹› If Airbag Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) (K75) signals a malfunction after installation, DTC memory must be checked, erased and once again

checked using Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051 A).
