AFFECTED VEHICLES
CONDITION
^ MIL on.
^ The vehicle does not reach top speed or only reaches top speed with difficulties.
^ The following DTCs are logged in the memory:
^
DTC 17869 35 (P1461 - exhaust gas temperature regulation bank 1 implausible signal).
^
DTC 17870 35 (P1462 - exhaust gas temperature regulation bank 2 implausible signal).
^
DTC 16684 35 (P0300 - misfiring recognized).
TECHNICAL BACKGROUND
Exhaust gas temperatures can significantly change (due to lean conditions) when misfires are recognized. The additional conditions of vehicle not
reaching top speed or only reaching top speed with difficulty and presence of DTC 17869 35 (P1461) or DTC 17870 35 (P1462) are indications of
exhaust gas temperatures changing (increasing) due to the lean misfire conditions.
PRODUCTION SOLUTION
--
SERVICE
1. Follow diagnostic procedures in Workshop Manual for P0300 misfire conditions.
2. Check front oxygen sensor relating to the bank showing Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) implausible signal. If necessary, replace that oxygen sensor.
Do not replace EGT sensors.
