Wheel Speed Sensor: Service and Repair

Component Notes And Information

Drive Axle With ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Rotor
-

Outer CV joint supplied with rotor as a replacement part

-

Before removing, pull out speed sensor slightly

-

After installing rotor, press wheel speed sensor back in up to it's shoulder using hand pressure only

ABS Wheel Speed Sensor
-

Same for right and left sides

-

To remove, pull out from wheel bearing housing

-

Ti install, press wheel speed sensor back in up to it's shoulder using hand pressure only

-

Disconnect sensor harness as follows

Left front connector, refer to Fig. 1, below.
Right front connector, refer to Fig. 2, below.

-

For wire harness routing, refer to Figs. 3 and 4, below.

Mounting Sleeve
-

Always replace

-

Same on right and left sides

-

Coat with brake cylinder paste before installing into wheel bearing housing.

-

Press into wheel bearing housing up to shoulder

Wheel Bearing Housing
-

Supplied as a replacement part with hole for mounting ABS wheel speed sensor mounting sleeve.

Hex Bolt And Washer/Collar Bolt
-

Always Replace

-

Tighten to: 200 Nm (148 ft lb) plus an additional 90°

WARNING:

Fastener -5- must only be loosened or tightened with the vehicle standing on the ground

^

Risk of accident.

Procedures:

Fig. 1 Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor Harness Connector

Disconnect coolent expansion tank and position aside

-

Remove harness connector from bracket and disconnect.
