Wheel Speed Sensor: Service and Repair
Rear

Component Notes And Information

Wheel Speed Sensor
-

Same for right and left sides

-

To remove, pull out of axle beam

-

Before installing, check wheel bearing play and adjust if necessary

-

To install, press in by hand up to shoulder

-

For wire routing, refer to Fig. 1, below

Mounting Sleeve
-

Always replace

-

Same for right and left sides

-

Coat with brake cylinder paste before installing

-

Press into axle beam up to shoulder

Axle Beam
-

Provided with bushings to hold wheel speed sensor

-

Coat mounting sleeve -2- with brake cylinder paste before installing

Stub Axle
-

For removal, refer to Suspension and Steering

ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Sensor Rotor
-

Drive off evenly with mandrel through threaded holes in hub

-

Press on to install, refer to Suspension and Steering

Wheel Hub
-

For removal and installation, refer to Suspension and Steering

Procedures

Install wiring with rubber grommets into brackets provided on rear axle and floor pan

-

Connect wire and carefully install in floor pan with rubber grommet.

NOTE: The two harness connectors for the rear wheel speed sensors are located under the rear seat.
