Condition
Customers with servotronic steering (1N3) may complain of a shudder in the steering wheel or a knocking noise when the steering wheel is turned during
parking lot maneuvers or while driving at low speeds (below 5 mph).
Tip: This bulletin does not apply to vehicles with dynamic steering (1N7).
TECHNICAL BACKGROUND
During tight turns and while driving on smooth surfaces such as painted shop floors, the friction between the surface and tires can cause a shudder
sensation felt in the steering wheel. This characteristic is an annoyance. It has no affect on steering system longevity or performance.

SERVICE
1. Inspect the vehicle to determine if the vehicle is equipped with the original high pressure steering hose (Figure 1, arrow). The original production part
is made of steel hydraulic pipe. If the original steel pipe is present, proceed with this service procedure.
2. Replace the lower section of the power steering hydraulic hose (Figure 1, arrow) with the special service part listed in the Required Parts and Tools
section of this TSB.
