Subframe

Subframe

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Brake pedal actuator (V.A.G 1869/2)

‹› Ring spanner insert AF 21 (T10212)

Removing

‹› If subframe is replaced, alignment should be performed after installation. Refer to => [ Work Procedure, Vehicle Alignment Overview ] See:

‹› Only if subframe is replaced: Level control system sensor, removal and installation, refer to => [ Level Control System Sensor ]

With vehicles with air suspension, place vehicle on hoist. Refer to => [ Positioning Vehicle on Hoist and Wheels ] See: Steering and
Suspension/Suspension/Service and Repair/Procedures/Positioning Vehicle on Hoist and Wheels.

Remove wheels.

-

Remove rear portion of exhaust system.

-

Disconnect all electrical wires from body to rear suspension.

Vehicles with air suspension

-

Clean area around wiring connection.

-

Remove left and air supply line and seal off connections. Make sure that no dust particles enter connections.

Continuation for all vehicles

Remove brake cable from rear suspension.

-

Remove propshaft from rear final drive and tie up.

Remove left and right brake caliper - 1 - and tie it with an wire - 2 - at brake line bracket - 3 -.
