Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming: Service and Repair

Rear Side Airbag Deactivation

Deactivating

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051B)

CAUTION!
‹› Follow the safety precautions for pyrotechnic components, refer to => [ Restraint System Components, Checking ] See: Restraint

‹› Observe additional safety precautions for side airbag, refer to => [ Side Airbag Additional Safety Precautions ] See: Restraint

Switch the ignition on.

-

Disconnect the battery ground cable with the ignition switched on.

Remove left or right 2nd row seat cushion.

Row, 3-Seater

‹› Individual seat, refer to => [ Seat Cushion ] See: Body and Frame/Seats/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/2nd Row, 2-Seater

CAUTION!
Before handling any airbag units (for example, when disconnecting the connector), the person handling them must "discharge static
electricity ". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.

‹› Left and right side airbags can we switched off individually.

One connection each is found at left and right below 2nd row bench seat.

Press catch - 2 - and disconnect connector -  1 - in - direction of arrow -.
