Steering Gear Assembly Overview

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Hose clamp pliers (V.A.G 1275)

‹› Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1332)

‹› Steering gear grease

‹› Always replace self-locking nuts and bolts.

‹› Welding or straighten work on any steering components is not permissible. 

‹› To grease the rack, only use steering gear grease. 

‹› There are two different tie rod ends being installed: one marked with " R" and one marked with "L" and an "arrow". They indicate the driving

direction.

Right Tie Rod End

‹› The version marked with "R" or an "arrow" pointing in the drive direction.

‹› Check dust caps for damage and correct seating.

‹› Tapered plug must be free of oil and grease.
