The bolt installation will stiffen the deformation element to instrument panel cross carrier joint and eliminate the possibility of movement.

Procedure

1. Remove the lower footwell cover and driver's side knee airbag.

Tip: To install the bolts, only the lower footwell cover and driver's side knee airbag need to be removed. Access is difficult but possible.

2. Locate the two holes in which to install the bolts.

The holes are on the top of the instrument panel cross carrier (Figure 3). The holes in which the bolts will be installed are difficult to access.
