Disconnect the electrical connectors at the connector station in the floor => [ Connectors, Disconnecting and Connecting ] See: Service and
Repair/Removal and Replacement/All Seats Overview.

Connect the (VAS 6281) to the side airbag electrical connector on the seat => [ Airbag Adapter, Connecting ] See: Service and Repair/Removal
and Replacement/All Seats Overview.

Raise the seat with a 2nd technician and remove it from the vehicle. 

Installation

Installation is reverse of removal, but note the following:

In the case of a defective Seat Forward/Back Adjustment Motor (V288): Install a new lower seat pan frame with a Seat Forward/Back Adjustment
Motor (V288). Refer to => [ Power Seat Pan ] See: Service and Repair/Overhaul/Power Seat Pan.

CAUTION!
‹› Follow the safety precautions for pyrotechnic components.

‹› Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, connecting electrical connector), the person handling them must "discharge

static electricity ". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.

‹› Ensure that electrical connections are pushed in as far as stop and engage with a click.

Remove (VAS 6281) only after installing seat. Refer to => [ Airbag Adapter, Connecting ] See: Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/All
Seats Overview.

Connect the electrical connectors at the connector station in the floor. Refer to => [ Connectors, Disconnecting and Connecting ] See: Service and
Repair/Removal and Replacement/All Seats Overview.

Switch on ignition.

CAUTION!
Connect the battery with the ignition switched on. Pyrotechnic components could deploy after connecting the battery if they were not
repaired correctly. Individuals must not be inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.

Disconnect the battery ground wire with the ignition switched on. 

‹› If Airbag Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) (K75) indicates a fault after installation, DTC memory must be checked, deleted and checked again.
