Seat Heater: Testing and Inspection
Heated Seats, Checking
‹› A condition exists which does not allow the driver or passenger seat heating to switch on. Short circuit in the seat heating element connector, open
circuit in the voltage supply to the Climatronic Control Module (J255) etc. The Climatronic control module has stored this as a fault. Check using
Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051/ under "Guided Fault Finding".
‹› The A/C system "Guided Fault Finding" describes the function test for the seat heater activation. Check using Vehicle diagnosis, testing and
information system VAS 5051/ under "Guided Fault Finding".
‹› If the Vehicle Electrical System Control Module (J519) voltage measured at terminal 30 falls below a value stored in the vehicle electrical system
control module, the seat heater is switched off completely or the output is reduced (to approximately 50 %) to reduce the load on the generator (the
Climatronic control module reduces the activation duty cycle from 100% to 90 - 0%). Check using Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information
system VAS 5051/ under "Guided Fault Finding".
‹› The Climatronic control module measured values shows that the front seat heating is switched on or why it was not activated even though there
was a request. Check using Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051/ under "Guided Fault Finding".
