Control Module HVAC: Description and Operation
Climatronic Control Module
There are different versions of the Climatronic Control Module (J255). When replacing the Climatronic control module, pay attention to the exact
allocation.
‹› There different versions with or without a seat heater switch, with different temperature units (°C or °F) on the temperature rotary knob and black
or silver rotary knobs.
‹› The Climatronic control module, can currently be exchanged as usual, component protection is not active at this time. Refer to Vehicle diagnosis,
testing and information system VAS 5051/ in the "Guided Fault Finding" function.
‹› The buttons and rotatory knobs are illuminated with LEDs, they cannot be replaced individually.
‹› The function feedback lamps in the buttons and rotary knobs cannot be replaced separately.
‹› If the Instrument Panel Interior Temperature Sensor (G56) measurement is incorrect, check the Climatronic control module intake grille trim (it
must not be closed) and the function of the Interior Temperature Sensor Fan (V42) using vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS
5051/ under "Guided Fault Finding".
‹› The selected functions are indicated by the function feedback lamps in the various buttons and on the Climatronic control module rotary knobs
lighting up.
‹› If a new Climatronic control module was installed and the basic setting was not performed, A/C regulation is limited and a malfunction about that
is stored in the DTC memory. Check using vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051/ under "Guided Fault Finding".
After replacing the Climatronic control module, perform the following work using vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051/ in the
"Guided Fault Finding" function:

Check coding.

Perform the basic setting.

Check the adaptation if necessary.

Check the DTC memory and erase any malfunctions shown.
