Spring Clamp

‹› Always replace after removal.

Boot

‹› Check for damage.

‹› Do not twist after adjusting the toe.

‹› Can be replaced with the power steering gear installed.

‹› Remove to replace the tie rods. Refer to => [ Tie Rod ] See: Tie Rod/Service and Repair/Tie Rod.

Clamp

‹› Always replace after removal.

Tie Rod

‹› 100 Nm

‹› Removing and installing, refer to => [ Tie Rod ] See: Tie Rod/Service and Repair/Tie Rod. 

‹› Grease the joint with steering gear grease.

Power-assisted steering gear

‹› Grease the steering rack with steering gear grease.

Bolt

‹› 22 Nm

‹› Steering centering locking bolt

Clamping Sleeves, Tensioning

Insert a new clamping sleeve and tension with the locking pliers (VAS 6199).

Make sure that dimension - A - of 5.7 mm maximum is observed. Dimension - A - must never be greater than 5.7 mm, otherwise there may be
problems with the seal.
