Press the lower spring plate slightly up, release retaining ring -  1 - with a pair of commercially available expanding pliers -  2 - and push the shock
absorber tube down - arrows -.

Mark the position of the retaining ring.

‹› When moving the retaining ring, ensure that the shock absorber tube paint is not damaged.

In vehicles with electronically controlled shock absorbers (Audi magnetic ride), remove the connector housing and cable - arrows - from the
brackets.
