Wheel Bearing: Removal and Replacement

Wheel Bearing Unit

Removing

-

Loosen the connection between the drive axle and wheel hub. Refer to => [ Threaded Connection Between Drive Axle and Wheel Hub, Loosening
and Tightening ] See: Axle Shaft Assembly/Constant Velocity Joint/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Threaded Connection Between
Drive Axle and Wheel Hub, Loosening and Tightening.

Remove wheel.

-

Remove the brake caliper and secure it to the body using wire.

Remove disc brake.

-

In vehicles with a brake shield, remove the bolts.

-

Remove bolts - arrows -.

-

Remove wheel bearing unit from wheel bearing housing. When installed, remove the brake shield together with the wheel bearing unit.

Installing

Installation is the reverse of removal, with special attention to the following:

Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Wheel Bearing Housing and Wheel Bearing Unit Assembly Overview ] See: Steering and
Suspension/Suspension/Rear Knuckle/Service and Repair/Front Suspension.

Tighten the drive axle to wheel hub threaded connection. Refer to => [ Threaded Connection Between Drive Axle and Wheel Hub, Loosening and
Tightening ] See: Axle Shaft Assembly/Constant Velocity Joint/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Threaded Connection Between
Drive Axle and Wheel Hub, Loosening and Tightening.
