Windshield Wiper Arms, Adjusting

Procedure

‹› Tightening specification, refer to => [ Windshield Washer System Assembly Overview ] See: Service and Repair/Windshield Washer System

Assembly Overview. 

‹› The hood must be closed if the windshield wiper will run during the procedure. Otherwise, the voltage supply to the wiper motors will be

interrupted.

Remove wiper arms. Refer to => [ Windshield Wiper Arms ] See: Service and Repair.

Switch on ignition.

Activate one-touch wiping and let wiper motor run to end position. 

‹› Every second time the wiper motor is switched off, it returns the wiper arms to a slightly lower rest position, thus tipping the wiper blade lips the

other way.

‹› To do so, the wiper motor moves the wiper arms farther down than to rest position and then a bit up again. This lower rest position must not be

used to adjust the wiper crank.

‹› Only use end position where wiper arms run directly end position with no understroke. Activate one-touch wiping again if necessary.

Turn off the ignition.

Position wiper arm with wiper blade installed at wiper axles and align wiper blade at windshield as follows:

‹› Dimension - a - = 20 + 10 mm.

‹› Dimension - b - = 5 + 10 mm.

‹› The dimensions indicate the gap between the wiper blade tips to black cowl grille at lower edge of windshield.
