‹› A low current can be displayed when the seat heater is off as a result of incident radiation in relation to the inductive pickup.

‹› If there is an open circuit or short circuit in the connection to the temperature sensor in the seat, the output to the heating element is not connected

by the Climatronic control module (J255) A/C control head.

‹› If there is a short circuit to ground in the seat heating element or in the wire connection, the Climatronic control module ( J255) A/C control head

does not activate the heater (as soon as an excessive current is present, a shutoff operation is performed immediately). 

‹› The design of the heating elements in the seats varies. Depending on the version of the heating elements, it is therefore possible for both seat

bolsters to be continuously heated in the case of an open circuit in the heating element of the seat cushion (the temperature sensor is located in the
seat cushion).

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹›  Test box (V.A.G 1598A) and associated adapter cable (V.A.G 1598/11) and adapter cable (V.A.G 1598/12)

‹› Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System ( VAS 5051A) (with the multimeter leads (VAS 5051/7 ))

‹› Connector test set (V.A.G 1594C)

Switch the ignition off.

Remove the Climatronic control module (J255) A/C control head.

Connect the test box (V.A.G 1598A) via the associated adapter cable (V.A.G 1598/11) between connector - C - and the Climatronic control
module (J255) A/C control head. Refer to => [ Wires and Components, Testing ] See: Testing and Inspection/Component Tests and General
Diagnostics/Wires and Components, Testing.

Connect the adapter cable (V.A.G 1598/12 ) between connector - D - and the Climatronic control module (J255) A/C control head (use a second
test box (V.A.G 1598A) or connect the measuring device via a suitable measuring lead from the connector test kit ( V.A.G 1594C) directly to the
adapter cable (V.A.G 1598/12 )). Refer to => [ Wires and Components, Testing ] See: Testing and Inspection/Component Tests and General

‹› The contact assignment of connector - C - in the adapter cable (V.A.G 1598/11) and connector -  D - in the adapter cable (V.A.G 1598/12) is

identical to the jack assignment at the test box ( V.A.G 1598A).
