Knock Sensor: Service and Repair

Knock Sensors

Locations engine compartment

1. Intake Manifold Runner Position Sensor (G336 )

2. Intake Manifold Runner Control (IMRC) Valve ( N316)

3. "Brown" connector for Knock Sensor 4 (G199)

4. "Black" connector for Knock Sensor 3 (G198)

5. "Brown" connector for Knock Sensor 2 (G66)

6. "Black" connector for Knock Sensor 1 (G61)

Removing

CAUTION!
‹› Fuel system is under high pressure! Before opening high pressure components of the fuel injection system, pressure must be relieved

to residual pressure. Refer to => [ Before Opening High Pressure Fuel Injection System ] See: Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Fuel
Filter/Fuel Pressure Release/Service and Repair.

‹›  Then wrap a clean rag around the connection and relieve residual pressure by carefully loosening the connection.

‹› Observe safety precautions when disconnecting the battery.

Remove intake manifold. Refer to => [ Intake Manifold ] See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Engine/Intake Manifold/Service and Repair/Intake
Manifold. 

Remove the respective right cylinder bank knock sensor.
