Spiral Spring/Return Spring with Slip Ring

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System ( VAS 5051 A)

Removing

-

Remove the steering column trim. Refer to => [ Steering Column Trim ] See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Utility Storage
Compartment/Service and Repair/Storage Compartments and Covers.

Disconnect connector - 1 -.

-

Carefully release catch - arrows - and pull return spring with slip ring from steering column switches.

Installing

To install, perform the steps used in removal in reverse order. Observe the following when doing so:

Ensure all catches and the connection engage cleanly.

‹› Wheels must be in straight-ahead position when removing or installing return spring with slip ring.

‹› Return spring with slip ring is secured as a new part in center position with a cable tie or shear ring.

‹› On vehicles with ESP sensor in return spring with slip ring, ESP sensor must be adapted.
