Rollover Protection Safety Precautions

Testing, removing, installing and repair work may only be performed by qualified personnel.

‹›

Current supply must be disconnected before any work is performed on the roll-over protection.

‹›

Roll-over protection must always be removed and installed when it is extended. The roll-over protection can be extended using the
Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051 A). Refer to => See Guided Fault Finding, Body, Body Assembly, 01 -
On Board Diagnostic capable systems, Airbag, Function Airbag, Control Module for Airbag.

After attaching, the roll-over protection must have approximately 1-2 mm play downward.

‹›

When performing actuator test make sure no one is standing near the roll-over protection (approximately 1 meter away).

‹›

When connecting the battery make sure no one is standing near the roll-over protection (approximately 1 meter away).

‹›

ALWAYS install rollover protection in vehicle as soon as it is removed from packaging.

‹›

NEVER leave rollover protection unattended!

‹›

When removed, store rollover protection lying down.

‹›

Do not disassemble or repair the roll-over protection. Always use new parts only.

‹›

Roll-over protection that has fallen onto hard surface or shows signs of damage (above all on magnetic switch) must not be reinstalled.

After an accident, all damaged parts must be replaced. If no damage is noticed on rollover protection, it can continue to be used.
Perform function test on rollover protection using Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051 A).

When performing the actuator test, the roll-over protection flap must be clipped on, and there must be nothing on the flap.

‹›

Do not perform any repairs on the convertible top storage cover near the flap and on the roll-over protection flap.

‹›

When installing, install the necessary spacers.

‹›

When performing repairs on the body near the roll-over protection, always remove the roll-over protection.

‹›

After servicing body in vicinity of the roll-over protection, check body for welding beads, deformations and chafe marks (compare
with opposite side of vehicle if necessary).
