Power Steering Pump: Service Precautions

General information

There is no provision for repairing the power steering pump. If problems are reported, trace the malfunction by means of a pressure test and a leakage
test. Replace power steering pump if a malfunction is found.

Always check steering system for leaks if fluid level is low in reservoir.

In case of leaks at the line connections first tighten connections and wipe dry then recheck for leaks.

Replacement pumps are not filled with fluid. It is essential to fill the pump with hydraulic fluid G 002 000 and to rotate pump by hand before
installing, otherwise the pump may be damaged or be noisy during operation.

Check hydraulic fluid level.
