Canister Purge Control Valve: Testing and Inspection
EVAP Canister Purge Regulator Valve - N80-, Checking
Leak test
Solenoid valve is closed when de-energized.

Remove hoses from EVAP canister purge regulator valve; leave connector attached.

Connect test hose to one connection of EVAP canister purge regulator valve.

Connect vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051 and select vehicle system "01 - Engine electronics" from list. Ignition must
be on.

Start final control diagnosis and actuate EVAP canister purge regulator valve -N80-. See: Computers and Control Systems/Testing and
Inspection/Scan Tool Testing and Procedures/Final Control Diagnosis (Function 03)

Valve must click...
-
...and must open and close (can be checked by blowing into test hose).

Terminate function "03 - Final control diagnosis" by touching <- key.
If valve does not open and close properly:
-
Replace EVAP canister purge regulator valve - N80-.

If valve does not click, perform electrical check on EVAP canister purge regulator valve.
Electrical checking of EVAP canister purge regulator valve -N80-

Disconnect connector from EVAP canister purge regulator valve -N80-.

Measure resistance with portable multimeter V.A.G 1526 between contacts of solenoid valve.
Specification: 22...30 Ohm
If reading does not match specification:

Replace EVAP canister purge regulator valve -N80-.
If reading matches specification:
-
Check power supply.
Checking solenoid valve power supply
NOTE: The EVAP canister purge regulator valve is supplied with power via the fuel pump relay.

Check fuse for EVAP canister purge regulator valve.
If fuse is OK:

Disconnect connector from EVAP canister purge regulator valve -N80-.
