Brake Light Switch: Testing and Inspection

Brake Light Switch -F- And Brake Pedal Switch -F47-, Checking 

NOTE: 

-

With the brake pedal pressed, command from the accelerator pedal sender (potentiometer) to the engine control module for opening the throttle
valve is suppressed for safety reasons. The control module requires the brake light switch and brake pedal switch signals for this purpose.

If the brake is actuated with the accelerator pedal constantly pressed, the engine speed is immediately regulated to idling speed. A faulty switch
can lead to unintentional speed regulation.

Work sequence

Connect vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051 and select vehicle system "01 - Engine electronics" from list. Ignition must

From list -1- select diagnostic function "08 - Reading measured value block".

Enter display group

Use keypad -2- to enter "066" for "Display group number 066" and confirm by touching Q key.
