Bearing shells that are worn through the nickel coating must be replaced.
-
Remove guide frame and clean journals.

Place Plastigage over entire width of bearing journal or into bearing shells.
^
Plastigage must rest in center of bearing shell.

Install guide frame and tighten to 30 Nm. DO NOT turn crankshaft.

Remove guide frame again.

Compare width of Plastigage with measuring scale:
^
New radial play: 0.010 to 0.039 mm
^
Radial play wear limit: 0.08 mm
