Exhaust Manifold: Service and Repair
Left Exhaust Manifold, Removing and Installing

Left exhaust manifold, removing and installing 
Special tools and equipment required 

-

Spring clip pliers V.A.G 1921

Removing 

-

Remove engine.

-

Place engine on workbench or a firm surface and secure in position with wooden blocks.

WARNING:

Engine must be placed in an absolutely firm position to avoid risk of accident.

Do not set engine on sump.

Remove bolts -1- and -2-.

Note:  Leave hose (arrow) connected to power steering to stop oil escaping.

-

Remove bolt for dipstick guide tube at cylinder head (arrow) and lift tube off.

-

Remove left coolant pipe.
