1 - Snap ring
2 - Dished washer
3 - Spacer ring (plastic)

Instructions apply only to stainless steel clamps.

Tightening clamp on outer joint

Apply CV joint boot clamp tool V.A.G 1682 as shown. Make sure jaws of tool make contact with lugs - arrows B - on clamp.

Tighten clamp by turning spindle with torque wrench (take care to keep pliers straight).

Tightening torque: 20 Nm.

Use torque wrench with 5 to 50 Nm range (e.g. torque wrench V.A.G 1331).

Make sure spindle thread on pliers moves freely. Lubricate with MoS2 grease if necessary.

If the thread is stiff (e.g. due to dirt), the required clamping force will not be attained at the clamp when applying specified tightening torque.
