Oil Pan, Upper Section

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Old oil collecting and extracting device (V.A.G 1782 )

‹› Protective eyewear

‹› Hand drill with plastic brush attachment

‹› Sealant

Removing

-

Place old oil collecting and extracting device ( V.A.G 1782) under engine and drain engine oil.

Remove engine. Refer to: Vehicles with manual transmission => [ Engine, Manual Transmission, Removing ] See: Service and Repair/Removal
and Replacement/Engine, Manual Transmission, Removing, vehicles with automatic transmission => [ Engine, Removing ] See: Service and
Repair/Removal and Replacement/Engine, Automatic Transmission, Removing and Installing.

Disconnect engine and transmission. Refer to: Vehicles with manual transmission => [ Engine and Transmission, Separating ] See: Service and
Repair/Removal and Replacement/Engine, Manual Transmission, Removing, vehicles with automatic transmission => [ Engine and Transmission,
Separating ] See: Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Engine, Automatic Transmission, Removing and Installing.

Secure engine on Engine and Transmission Holder. Refer to: Vehicles with manual transmission => [ Engine, Securing to Engine and
Transmission Holder ] See: Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Engine, Manual Transmission, Removing, vehicles with automatic
transmission => [ Engine, Securing to Engine and Transmission Holder ] See: Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Engine, Automatic
Transmission, Removing and Installing.

Remove covers for timing chains. Refer to => [ Timing Chain Covers ] See: Timing Components/Timing Cover/Service and Repair/Timing Chain
Covers.

‹› Before removing ribbed belt, mark the turning direction on it with chalk or a felt tip pen. A reversed direction of rotation can cause damage to the

belt under operating conditions.

Loosen tensioning bolt - arrow - and remove ribbed belt.

Remove tensioning roller - arrows -.
