1. Replace the thermostat (Figure 1). (See Repair Manual >> Mechanics >> Rep. Gr 19 Removing and installing coolant thermostat.)

2. Check to determine whether the cooling pump (Figure 2) has a plastic housing.

3. If the coolant pump housing is plastic, also replace the Coolant pump. (See Repair Manual >> 6-cylinder direct petrol injection engine, mechanics >>

Per the repair manual, collect coolant in a clean container and reuse coolant during repair. Only use new coolant to top off system.
