SERVICE
1. Remove upper front engine cover.
2. Determine which water pump type is installed (housing plastic or aluminum). The plastic housing is black, and the aluminum housing is silver.
^ If a water pump with an aluminum housing is installed: The water pump does not need to be replaced.
^ If a water pump with a plastic housing is installed:
Replace coolant pump. (See Repair Manual» 6-cylinder direct petrol injection engine, mechanics » Rep. Gr 19 » Removing and installing coolant pump.)
Per the repair manual, collect coolant in a clean container and reuse coolant during repair. Only use new coolant to top off system.
