Vacuum Pump: Testing and Inspection

Brake System Vacuum Pump Checking

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system ( VAS 5051)

‹› Diagnosis lead (VAS 5051/1) or diagnosis lead (VAS 5051/3)

Procedure

-

With the ignition switched off, connect the vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system (VAS 5051) to the diagnostic connection with
diagnosis lead (VAS 5051/1) or diagnosis lead (VAS 5051/3).

Switch on the tester - arrow -.

The tester may need up to 3 minutes before it is ready for operation.

Switch on the ignition.

Select mode: Press button on display for "Vehicle self-diagnosis ".

Select vehicle system: Press button for "01 - Engine electronics ".

The control module identification and coding will appear at top right of display.

Select diagnosis function (all diagnosis functions are available at this stage).

-

Select "04 - Basic setting" on display.

Press buttons 0, 0 and 8.

Confirm entry with Q key.

The following information will appear at the bottom of the display:

Firmly depress the brake pedal several times in succession until test is activated.
