‹› If the resistance is too great, check the wire connections to the heating elements of the heated seats for open circuit or contact resistance and

introduce corrective measures. If the open circuit is in the seat, repair the seat.  

Heated Seat Heating Elements, Checking

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System ( VAS 5051A) (with inductive pickup 50 A (VAS 5051/9 ))

‹› Connector test set (V.A.G 1594C)

‹›  Test box (V.A.G 1598A) and the adapter cable (V.A.G 1598/12)

‹› All fuses OK.

Switch the ignition off.

-

Remove the Climatronic control module (J255) A/C control head.

-

Pull connectors - D - and - F - out of the Climatronic control module (J255) A/C control head.

-

Connect the adapter cable (V.A.G 1598/12 ) of the test box to disconnected connector - D -. 

-

Connect the test box (V.A.G 1598A) to the adapter cable (V.A.G 1598/12)

Measure the voltage between contact "3" at connector -  F - and jack "13" (ground connection) of the test box (V.A.G 1598A).

‹› Target value: Approx. battery voltage

Measure the resistance between contact "1" at connector -  F - (to the driver seat heating element (Z6)) and jack "13" (ground connection) of the
test box (V.A.G 1598A).

‹› Target value: Resistance approx. 1.5 (.....2.5) to 25 ohms (ohms)

Measure the resistance between contact "2" at connector -  F - (to the passenger seat heating element) and jack "13" (ground connection) of the
test box (V.A.G 1598A).

‹› Target value: Resistance approx. 1.5 (.....2.5) to 25 ohms (ohms)
