Timing Belt: Service and Repair
Installation

NOTE:  Numbers in ( ) refer to points in the applicable image,

-

Lay toothed belt on belt pulley of crankshaft.

-

Secure vibration damper to crankshaft. At same time, fit lower toothed belt guard.

-

Secure pulley using brace 3256.

-

Coat threads and contact surfaces of bolt head with sealing paste AMV 188 001 02.

NOTE:  Spanner 2079 for vibration damper must align with torque wrench.

-

Ensure that toothed belt is not pinched between the oil pump and toothed belt pulley when tightening vibration damper.

-

Tightening torque

With spanner 2079: 350 Nm (258 ft lb)

Without spanner 2079: 450 Nm (332 ft lb)  

-

Tighten lower toothed belt guard to 10 Nm (7 ft lb)
