Ignition Power Stage: Description and Operation
OPERATION
The left side power output stage controls the ignition coils for cylinders 1,2 and 3.
The right side power output stage controls the right side ignition coils for cylinders 4 and 5.
PURPOSE
The power output stage is an electronic switch that controls its respective ignition coil's discharge. Each power output stage has three switching units.
The Motronic control module, based on inputs from the Hall sensor and the crankshaft position sensor, will supply a ground for the primary side of the
coil.
