‹› Use a suitable diagnostic system such as the vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system (VAS 5051B).
Removing

‹› If Airbag Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) (K75) lights up after a vehicle accident, check whether crash data is stored using. If this is the case,
check whether the malfunction Resistance too large is saved in battery interrupt igniter (N253) DTC memory. If this is the case, Battery Interrupt
Igniter (N253) must be replaced.
‹› The Battery Interrupt Igniter (N253) interrupts the circuit electrically each time an airbag is deployed. The Battery Interrupt Igniter (N253) must
always be replaced after a deployment.

Switch the ignition on.

Disconnect the battery ground cable with the ignition switched on.

Remove the vehicle tool kit mount - 3 -.

Remove the bolts - A arrows -.

Remove the vehicle tool kit cover retaining bracket - 2 -.
‹› Ignore - item 1 - and the - B arrows -.
