‹› Ensure wires are not pinched.
CAUTION!
Ignition must be on when connecting battery. If pyrotechnic components (e.g. airbag, belt tensioner) are not repaired correctly, they may
deploy unintentionally after connecting battery. There must not be anyone inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.

Disconnect the battery ground wire with the ignition switched on.
‹› If the airbag malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) (K75) indicates a fault after installation, check the DTC memory, erase it and check it again.
Side Airbag Crash Sensor
‹› Removal and installation are same for right and left.
Removing
CAUTION!
‹› Follow the safety precautions for pyrotechnic components.
‹› Follow the safety precautions for front side airbag crash sensors (pressure sensors). Refer to => [ Front Side Airbag Crash Sensors

Switch the ignition on.

Disconnect the battery ground cable with the ignition switched on.

Remove the door trim. Refer to => [ Door Trim ] See: Body and Frame/Doors, Hood and Trunk/Doors/Front Door/Front Door Panel/Service and
Repair/Front Door Trim.
CAUTION!
Before handling pyrotechnic components (e.g. disconnecting the electrical connector), the person handling it must "discharge static
electricity ". This can be done by touching door striker, for example.

Disconnect the connector - 2 - by releasing the locking mechanism - 1 - - arrow -.

Remove the bolts - 3 - and the side airbag crash sensors - 4 -.
