Affected vehicles

Condition

This RVU has been proactively released to prevent the following condition from occurring in the vehicle: Water may enter the wiring harness.

This Required Vehicle Update (RVU) is in effect until January 4, 2012. After that date, this RVU will expire and no longer be in effect.

Vehicle must meet all of the following criteria:

Procedure is valid only for vehicles that show the 97Q5 code in the Campaign/Action Information screen on the day of repair.

Vehicle must be within the Limited New Vehicle Warranty.

Procedure must be performed within the allotted time frame stated in this Technical Service Bulletin.

Procedure must be performed on applicable vehicles in dealer inventory prior to sale.

Technical Background

On Audi S5 vehicles manufactured within a specific period it is possible that, due to the routing of one of the ground wires, water can enter the sheathing
(corrugated tube) of the ground wire and then get into the wiring harness.
