Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Puller (VW 391)

‹› Adapter (VW 771/40) from the Slide Hammer - Complete Set (VW 771)

‹› Retainer (3028)

‹› Pulling Hook (T20143)

‹› Driver (T40109)

‹› Sealing Grease (G 052 128 A1)

‹› 2 bolts M 8 x 30

‹› 1 bolt M 8 x 45

Removing

‹› The flange/driveshaft seal can replaced only when the final drive is removed.

Remove rear final drive. Refer to => [ Rear Final Drive ] See: Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Rear Final Drive 0BC
(0B4A,0B2A,0B6A,0B5A Transmission)/Rear Final Drive.

Remove circlip - arrow -.

CAUTION!
Replace the circlip with a new one of the same thickness if it is stretched or damaged.

Mark the position of the flange/driveshaft - B - to the drive pinion - A - - arrow -.
