Remove old circlip - A - from groove in flange shaft using pliers.
B Protective jaws

Insert new circlip in groove of flange shaft, being careful not to over-stretch circlip.

Drive the flange shaft in using a centering mandrel (VW 295).

Install rear final drive, refer to => [ Rear Final Drive ] See: Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Rear Final Drive 0BD
(0B2A,0B6A,0B4A,0B5A Transmission)/Rear Final Drive.

Checking axle oil in rear final drive, refer to => [ Gear Oil in Rear Final Drive, Checking ] See: Fluid - Differential/Testing and Inspection/Rear

Observe general repair notes.

Remove rear final drive, refer to => [ Rear Final Drive ] See: Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Rear Final Drive 0BD
(0B2A,0B6A,0B4A,0B5A Transmission)/Rear Final Drive.

Install the puller (T10037) on the housing - arrow - and remove the flange shaft.
