Malfunction Indicator Lamp: Testing and Inspection
Electronic Power Control (EPC), Operations
Electronic Power Control (EPC) Warning Lamp -K132- In Instrument Cluster
"EPC" is an abbreviation and stands for Electronic Power Control (E-gas).
Engine Control Module (ECM) checks all components that are important for function of the E-Gas system after ignition is switched on.
If malfunctions are recognized in the E-Gas system during operation of the engine, the Engine Control Module (ECM) switches on the Electronic Power
Control (EPC) Warning Lamp - K132-. An entry is made in DTC memory of ECM at the same time.
Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) Function Test
-
Switch ignition on.
-
Engine Control Module (ECM) switches EPC lamp on.
-
Start engine.
-
Shortly after engine is started, the EPC warning lamp will go out if there are no malfunctions stored in DTC memory that relate to the E-gas
system
If warning lamp does not light up at all:
The switch-on signal for Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) is transferred from the Engine Control Module (ECM) to the instrument cluster via wire
connection or via CAN-Bus, depending on version.
-
Checking wire connections
-
Check terminal resistance for CAN-Bus.
