Test requirements: 

-

Fuse for solenoid valves for camshaft adjustment OK.

Fuel Pump (FP) Relay OK. See: Testing and Inspection/Component Tests and General Diagnostics/Fuel Pump (FP) Relay -J17 and Relay
Activation, Checking

-

Motronic Engine Control Module (ECM) Power Supply Relay -J271- OK. 

-

Ignition switched off. 

NOTE: 

-

In vehicles without Motronic Engine Control Module (ECM) Power Supply Relay -J271-, voltage is supplied to camshaft adjustment solenoid
valves via the Fuel Pump (FP) relay. 

-

In vehicles with Motronic Engine Control Module (ECM) Power Supply Relay -J271-, voltage is supplied to camshaft adjustment solenoid valves
via -J271-.
