Side Air Bag: Service and Repair

Rear Side Airbag, Disabling

WARNING!
Observe all safety precautions when working on airbags.
The Deactivating or Reactivating procedure should only be done at the customer's written and signed request.

NOTE:  The rear side airbags can only be disabled or enabled together. It is not possible to disable or enable the side airbags individually.

Code control module as if vehicle has NO rear side airbag.

-

Remove seat bench

-

Disconnect battery

The harness connectors are located at the left and right sides of the vehicle by the "C-pillar"

Press catches -2- and disconnect connector -1- in direction of arrow.

Secure the loose harness connectors with cable ties.

-

Install rear seat bench.

-

Reconnect battery

WARNING!
There should be no one inside the vehicle when the battery is connected

When deactivation is complete:

-

Affix appropriate adhesive language labels from label kit for deactivated side airbags (see table) to right and left inner door frames as outlined in
procedure.
