Power Seat Motor: Service and Repair

Front Seat, Removing With Faulty Control Module Or Faulty Seat Fore/Aft Adjustment Motor V288
NOTE: The seat pan is shown without upholstery and backrest in illustration to provide a better overview.
Removing
CAUTION: Observe safety precautions for work on airbags.

If possible, move seat as high up as possible.

Remove bolt - 3 -.

Disconnect threaded connection - 4 -.
CAUTION:
Loosen bolts - 2 - only after checking electrical or electronic components and wires.
After loosening bolts - 2 -, lower part of seat pan - 4 - including Seat Fore/Aft Adjustment Motor V288 must be replaced with transverse
member.

Fold seat fully toward front. If necessary: Remove steering wheel.
CAUTION: Before handling airbag units (e.g. disconnecting electrical connector), the person handling it must "electrostatically
discharge". This can be done by touching door striker, for example.
NOTE: Check electrical and electronic components and wires before removing seat further to avoid unnecessary repair costs.

Perform the following tests:

Check fuse
-
Check voltage at connector station, perform fault-finding if necessary

Check voltage to control module
-
Check voltage to Seat Fore/Aft Adjustment Motor V288
-
If fuse is faulty: replace fuse.

If voltage to connector station is low: repair or replace wire.

If control module is defective: Replace control module.
-
If Seat Fore/Aft Adjustment Motor V288 is faulty: Replace lower frame of seat pan.
Further Removal Only If Seat Fore/Aft Adjustment Motor V288 Is Faulty

Disconnect battery ground wire.
