Also with side curtain airbag deployment:

‹› Cross acceleration sensors on deployed side

‹› Trim on A-pillar, B-pillar, C-pillar, D-pillar

‹› Remaining cross acceleration sensors if anchorage point is deformed in sensor region

In addition:

‹› All belt retractors with deployed belt tensioners

‹› All belt retractors with deployed belt force limiters (depending on equipment)

If belt tensioner and/or belt force limiter deployment is suspected, connect a suitable vehicle tester such as the vehicle diagnosis, testing and
information system (VAS 5051B).

 In Guided Fault Finding under "15 - Airbag ", check whether there is a crash entry in the airbag control module.

Also check if the "Resistance too large" error is stored for the belt tensioner and/or belt force limiter. Deployed belt tensioners and/or belt force
limiters must fulfill both conditions. "Prerequisite: the airbag control module was not replaced".

‹› The "Resistance too large" error may also be stored if there is an open circuit. Then there is no crash entry.

‹› Depending on the crash, the belt tensioner may have deployed while the belt force limiter did NOT. In that case, follow the disposal information

for pyrotechnic components.

‹› Also: Follow the seat belt inspection instructions => [ Seat Belts, Inspecting ] See: Seat Belt Systems/Seat Belt/Testing and Inspection/Seat Belts,

Inspecting. 

If needed (visual inspection), the following must also be replaced: All damaged components.

After replacing airbag units or control module, affix stickers (only tear-off strips) to registration card and return registration card to relevant Sales
Center or to Importer for registration.
