Airbag Spiral Spring/Return Spring With Slip Ring F138, Removing And Installing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

-

Special Screwdriver T8 T40056 A

Removing

NOTE:  Airbag Spiral Spring/Return Spring With Slip Ring F138 must be installed and removed in center position (wheels straight).

CAUTION:  Observe safety precautions for work on airbags.

Switch on ignition. 

NOTE:  Contrary to description "Disconnecting and Connecting Battery", battery must be disconnected when removing airbag with ignition
switched on.

Remove luggage compartment floor trim.

-

Disconnect battery ground strap - arrow -.

-

Remove driver-side airbag unit.

-

Remove steering wheel.

-

On vehicles with electrically adjustable steering columns, remove lower driver-side instrument panel cover.
