Replacing spinning washer of wheel bearing with 85 mm diameter or 92 mm diameter

Carefully pry off old spinning washer - 1 - using a screwdriver.

Position new spinning washer on wheel hub.

Attach special tools as shown in figure.

1. Thrust piece VW 473
2. Assembly tool T40089/1 for wheel bearing with 85 mm diameter or assembly tool T40089/2 for wheel bearing with 92 mm diameter
3. Spinning washer
4. Wheel hub
5. Thrust plate VW 401

Press on spinning washer up to radius of wheel bearing hub using assembly tool T40089/1 or T40089/2 as shown in the illustration.

Note:

Spinning washer must be pressed on up to radius of wheel bearing hub.

Pressing wheel hub into wheel bearing with 85 mm diameter

When pressing in, pressure pad VW 511 may only lie against bearing inner race.
